Our Yellowstone Zoo
- photos from our property -
Just minutes ago, we saw a pronghorn mother with her new fawn running.
Then, we saw something running behind them.
A coyote.
The coyote in the back chasing the pronghorn. Here, the pronghorn mother got between the fawn and coyote. The fawn is in front, out of the photo. |
The chase went back and forth in the field, sprinting at top speed.
The pronghorn fawn at top speed with all feet off the ground. |
The coyote panting but still chasing the pronghorn. |
We'll be keeping an eye out that way tonight for the pronghorn fawn. I know it's the 'circle of life', but particularly from my mother's perspective, it's still hard for me to watch.

My family and friends just got back from staying in Shirl and John's beautiful rental vacation home. We've not been back yet a week and I can truly say that I am not yet over mourning our departure. The beauty we witnessed each day from our patio, to include the pronghorn family which is the subject of Shirl's blog, was magical, majestic and humbling.
We were also lucky enough to travel to Yellowstone and the Tetons on 4 occasions, raft the Yellowstone and just relax and enjoy God's critters. We saw Grizzly, Black Bears with cubs, multitudes of Bison, Pronghorn, Elk and Mule Deer. We were even lucky enough to see a Moose one evening and a Mountain Goat. Our trip was beyond words and our hosts were beyond comparison.
For those of you wondering about where to stay to visit Yellowstone, this is the place if you are looking for magic, beauty, hospitality and peace on earth.
